Best Suspension to Maintain OEM 2024 Ram 2500 Suspension While 5th Wheel Towing

Updated 11/25/2024 | Published 11/23/2024

Question:

We have a 2024 Ram 2500 6.4L crew cab short bed truck. We just purchased a 2024 Alliance Avenue 5th wheel. Pin weight is about 2800 lbs. The truck squatted down about 4-6 inches. It drove fine, no sway or safety issues, but I’d prefer to bring it back up that 4-6 inches, WITHOUT compromising the ride quality, which is phenomenal compared to other 2500 HD trucks I’ve had. The fifth wheel has a UVW of 10,500. Fully loaded will probably be around 12k lbs, but not really much more on the pin weight. What’s the best fix without compromising ride!!??

Hey Michael, thanks for reaching out!

The best way to level out your 2024 Ram 2500 while towing your 5th wheel is to use an air bag kit and for that I recommend the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2598. The feel of your ride while loaded might change a little, but when you aren't towing, the air bags can be lowered to 5 psi so your factory suspension on the truck is taking full control.

I also recommend adding an air compressor kit like the Air Lift WirelessONE # AL25980 to your setup so you can adjust the air bags on the fly instead of needing to manually check them and plan stops near an air compressor to make your air bag adjustments.
