Best Suspension Enhancement for 2016 Ford F-250

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/19/2024

Question:

Hello. I need some advice. I want to put something in the rear of my truck to help with load as I am towing a trailer every day for work but dont want to compromise ride quality to much. It is a 2016 f250 4x4 diesel crew cab short bed. Trailer is a 12ft. tag along flatbed which weights 1700lbs. unloaded and as much as 6500lbs. loaded. My main issue is I am tired of the high beams I get from oncoming traffic because the average person doesnt understand the exta weight on the rear of the tow vehicle causes the front of the tow vehicle to rise. Imagine that. So what would be Etrailers suggestion be. Thanks. Dennis

Hey Dennis, we have just what you are looking for with the Roadactive Suspension Kit part # RAS3611-SLHD that is a fit for your 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty. This is only option that gives you the additional support you are looking for as well as doesn't hurt ride quality loaded or and unloaded and also improves handling. I have friends with this on their truck who have used other products like air bags or Timbrens and they swear this is the best.

Hey Dennis, how did things turn out with the RoadActive Suspension kit on your F-250? Did it help level the truck and smooth out the ride while towing your trailer? Your update could make it easier for others dealing with the same issue.

@JamesonC. Jameson I have not done anything yet. The Roadactive Suspension I have a question. I tried that system when it was Roadmaster probably about 15 years ago. Have they improved them? I was very disappointed back then because it made my truck ride like I had no springs at all. Had a very hard ride and was adjusted according to instructions. Please advise. Thanks. Dennis

@DennisR Yes they've been greatly improved since then. All of the feedback we've gotten on them is how well they work and that the ride quality unloaded and loaded is improved greatly.
