What is the Highest Weight Rating for a 15" Trailer Wheel for a 14,000 lb Trailer

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/15/2024

Question:

Hello, I was looking to purchase a set of 4 of your Aluminum Eagle Trailer Wheel - 15 x 6 Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - Black Part Number: LH46VR. I see these wheels have a weight capacity of around 2800lbs each. I m looking to install them on my 28 foot enclosed car trailer where I am towing roughly 14,000 lbs total. Is there another version of these wheels that have more weight capacity? Thank you.

Hey Jay,

The Aluminum Eagle Trailer Wheel # LH46VR matches the highest capacities from all the wheels that Lionshead makes, but I have a similar looking one from Sendel with their T09 Black Machined Trailer Wheel # SEN48FR, which is rated for 3,200 lbs. It's not an exact match, but it has the same colors and a fairly similar pattern.

I checked all of our other 15" wheels and none of them have a weight rating higher than this.

One thing to keep in mind is that some of the weight of your trailer will be on the tongue, so as long as you aren't overloading your trailer GVWR, and your tires/wheels are rated for at least the same amount as your axles then you can safely use everything together.

Hey Jay, how did things work out with the Sendel T09 wheels for your enclosed car trailer? Were they able to handle your towing setup the way you needed? Your update could make it easier for others comparing wheel capacities.
