Roof Rack For 2025 Subaru Outback Wildeness For Carrying Thule Hullavator

Question:

I have a 2025 Subaru Outback Wilderness and want to get a new rack system for my Thule Hullavators 2 that I took off my Toyota 4Runner. Can you tell me which rack system would work best for me? Thanks.

Hey Joe, thanks for getting in touch. What I recommend for your 2025 Subaru Outback Wilderness is the Rhino-Rack Sportz Roof Rack for Raised Rails # RR97HG. This will attach to the factory rails on your Subaru. The Aero crossbars have top channels to which you can attach your Hullavators. The roof rack comes with 59" crossbar which will easily allow you to mount two Hullavators.

I actually helped install a Hullavator on some Rhino Rack bars earlier today and it easily installed using the T-track hardware. We had a shorter crossbar and still would have had plenty of room for two Hullavators.

Would there be a shorter cross bar I could use that would fit the two hullavators?

@Joe You could technically go slightly shorter but thing to keep in mind here is that in order to use the Hullavator the crossbar must extend between 4" and 8" past the towers. That is why the longer crossbar is recommended here. So The lift assist will not hit the site of the car when you drop it down. The Hullavator itself takers up 28-1/2" on the crossbar so technically the minimum crossbar length for two would be like 57". I recommend sticking with the 59" vortex bars I mentioned above. That way there will be a bit of room to spare.
