Question:

I have a 2012 Ford F150 Supercrew with 5and1/2 bed. Looking to tow 29ft 5th wheel RV. Weight is 6600. Can I tow it and what hitch do I need?

Hey Randy, it is possible to tow a fifth wheel trailer with your 2012 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 foot bed but there's only one hitch that can provide the additional clearance needed since your truck bed is so short. For that you would want the Demco HIjacker Autoslide part # DM56SV which comes with a custom fit rail kit for your truck as well as an automatic sliding fifth wheel hitch that will provide you with the clearance you'll need to make tight turns.

To determine your towing capacity best option would be to contact a Ford dealer as it's based on a few factors like engine size and gear ratio.

Hey Randy, how did things go with the Demco Hijacker Autoslide on your F-150’s short bed? Your experience could point others in the right direction when towing a fifth wheel with a similar setup.
