Highest BTU Rated 2-Stage Regulator Needed
Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/23/2024 >
Question:
Looking for a 2 stage automatic switch regulator for two 100lbs tanks that has a higher capacity output. Either 1/2inch or 3/4inch output. My CSST pipe is 3/4inch but Im running a residential size propane range only. Ive bumped up output flares from 3/8 to 1/2 before. If the BTU output rating is above my ranges BTU needs, then is it ok to use a 3/8inch output regulator? Thank you!

Hey Brian,
The highest rated 2-stage regulators we currently offer are the # 108221 (Horizontal) or # 108220 (vertical), which have a 400,000BTU maximum flow rate. You shouldn't have an issue using an adapter fitting to go up to 1/2" but I would definitely check the BTU requirement of your appliance. If it's not enough I would check your local hardware store for a higher capacity regulator.

Hey Brian, did the 2-stage regulator with the higher BTU rating end up meeting your range’s needs? Knowing how it performed could help others trying to size their setup the same way.
