how does it connect to side rail on 2021 jeep gladiator Mojave and can I add surf rod to basket Thank you

Hi Pat; the Yakima MegaWarrior # Y07080 is designed to attach to crossbars. You could add a roof rack like the # RR72ZE and install the cargo basket but there is no way to mount it on the gutters. If you don't want to add crossbars and want to add a platform style rack you could use the Rhino Rack Roof Rack # RR86XP or Front Runner Slimline II Platform Rack # FR73FV. I don't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to mount your surf rod on any of these but I suppose it depends on how large it is and how you want to mount it.
