Parts Needed To Flat Tow 2012 Jeep Wrangles With Aftermarket Bumper

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/11/2024

Question:

I am interested in getting a recommendation for towing our 2012 Jeep Wrangler with aftermarket front tow rated bumper behind our class a motorhome. The bumper has 3/4 shackle hole.

Hey David, I can definitely help with that. Roadmaster actually makes adapters that will attach directly to the bumper. Setting up a 2012 Wrangler is going to be very straightforward. Here is what I recommend:

- Adapter for Jeep D-Ring Bumper Mounts to Roadmaster Motor Home Mount Tow Bars - 3/4" Thick # RM-035

- Roadmaster Nighthawk All-Terrain Tow Bar w/ LED Lights - Non-Binding - RV Mount - 8,000 lbs # RM-676

- Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152

- Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes - Proportional SM99251

Note that vehicles with incandescent lights will use # RO94FR instead of # RM-152. Also you may need a drop hitch such as # BLU28XR to compensate for any height differences between the base plate connection and the hitch on your motorhome. Any difference of more that 3" requires a drop hitch. You may also want to get a cover # RM-055-3 and locking hitch pin # e98881 for your tow bar.

You will find instructions as well as a few videos showing the parts I mentioned linked below. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

Hey David, how did the setup go with your Wrangler and the Roadmaster gear? I'm curious if the D-ring adapters lined up well with your bumper’s 3/4-inch shackle holes. Your feedback could help others planning a similar tow setup.
