Recommended Travel Trailer Rated Bike Rack for 2 Heavy E-Bikes
Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/01/2024 >
Question:
Hi, we were thinking of purchasing 2 ebikes each weighing approximately 58 pounds with the batteries removed. We currently have a 2inch Kuat Transfer V2 which we mount on the bumper of our travel trailer the bumper is solid and part of the trailer frame. Just wondering if the rack could carry both these ebikes or do they exceed the weight limit because the rack is mounted on the rear of a travel trailer. Thanks.

Richard, the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU74FR you're using is not going to be rated high enough to be able to carry those 58 lb (each) bikes. This rack only has a 40 lb per bike capacity, so you'd be overloaded by roughly 36 lbs. I'd recommend getting rid of that rack and replacing it with the Swagman Escapee RV Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bike # S39SR instead.
This rack has a 60 lbs per bike capacity, will work with a 5" wide tires, and can be used with the ramp # S39SR to make loading bikes easier.

Hey Richard, how did things go with the Swagman Escapee rack for your travel trailer? Did the higher weight capacity handle your two e-bikes well on the road? Your update could make it easier for others carrying heavier bikes on a trailer setup.
