Is the Karrier ST175/80R13 Wheel Tire Combo AM31991 Lug or Hub Piloted?

Published 09/15/2024

Question:

trying to replace my 2000 Snowbear trailer tires which were 12inch to a 13inch tire for more road use. I purchased the Kendra St175/80r13 white mini mods on your suggestion and are happy on the size and look, however. My original hub is a 1inch straight spindle and an approximately 2.... die center opening. The nuts all line up but the center hole is larger, therefore weight is all on the lugs nuts. Do I need to change the hub out as well and if so which can you recommend. Bill

Thanks for the pictures Bill! The Dexstar wheel item # AM20253 that came with the Karrier wheel tire combo item # AM31991 you bought is lug piloted. This means it will be centered on the hub via the lug nuts not the hub bore which would be hub piloted.

As far as replacing your hub goes, if the wheel is attached with bolts then the pilot hole would have to be exact since the wheel would center on the hub via the pilot hole. This is called a hub-centric wheel and it looks like you're using bolts not lug nuts. You're going to need to swap out those hubs. If you could give me the numbers stamped onto the sides of the bearings in one of your hubs I would be happy to find you a replacement.
