Which Bearing Oil for EZ Loader Tandem Axle Boat Trailer

Updated 09/09/2024 | Published 09/08/2024

Question:

I have a tandem axel EZLoader boat trailer with oil bath hubs. The trailer is 5 years old and I feel it’s time to change the oil. The current oil is at level and is not milky. I see a lot of conflicting information on what oil to use. What do you recommend?

Hi Ken; if the oil level is fine and it isn't milky you can continue to run it as is with periodic inspection. However, changing the oil won't hurt. We really only carry the Kodiak Synthetic Bearing Oil for Oil Bath Hubs # XLPROLUBE which is a 90 weight synthetic oil. This comes from Dexter and will work well, just clean out the old oil before adding the new. I wouldn't get too caught up in the brand as long as it is a high-quality hypoid gear oil, anything else from the Dexter chart below will work fine.
