Availability Of Kuat Bike Rack For 3 Bikes

Question:

Hello. I have a Kuat Sherpa 2.0 bike rack. Do you have an extension so I can add a 3rd bike to the rack? Thanks!

Hi John.

The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 is only capable of carrying 2 bikes, and there are no parts or adapters to allow it to fit 3. If you're needing to carry 3 bikes you'll need to pick up a new rack like the Kuat # NV22B-NA22B which is designed for 4 bikes. You can sell your Sherpa 2.0 locally to offset some of the cost.

Hi. Are there any Kuat racks that start with 2 bikes but then you can add on another (or two) fairly easily? We usually need 2 bikes but occasionally add a person or two. Thanks! John-Thomas

@John-thomasH The above bike rack I recommended is a 2 bike rack with the included add-on for another 2 bikes. When you only need 2 bikes you can put it in the 2 bike layout, and then add the add-on when needed.

@SamuelC Thanks! I'm trying to remember why I got the Sherpa 2.0 vs. the NV. Does the NV fold up when not in use? Does it swing out so I can open the back of my car? If not, can you suggest another rack that would have similar functionality to the Sherpa 2.0 and also accommodate more bikes?

@John-thomasH The NV does fold up when not in use, and can fold down with bikes loaded. The NV does not swing out as it is, but neither does the Sherpa. Both Racks however can be used with the Pivot to allow either rack to swing out, and if you already have the pivot (which if your rack swings out, you do) you can use it with the NV to keep that feature.
