Question:

I have a 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Crew cab with 8foot bed. Im looking for a ladder rack that is compatible with a tonneau cover, the rear bar can slide forward or be easily removed to allow loading a motorcycle into the bed, and an over-the-cab extension to secure a 12foot x 4foot aluminum ramp. Will the TH43003XT-501EX fit my truck? If not which rack do you recommend that will suit my needs?

Hey David,

Thule does have a fit for your 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 with an 8' bed, but it's under part # TH43002XT-780EX instead. This would have bases that mount into the stake pockets so that you can still install a tonneau cover that sits inside of the bed rails. The towers can easily be adjusted along the bases to make loading and unloading your motorcycle possible and the cantilever will help you haul the ramp. The included load stops can also make securing your loads easier.

For the cover I recommend going with a soft roll-up cover like the TruXedo # TX572801 to make it easier to slip back and forth across the bases of the ladder rack. A hard-folding cover like the BAKFlip # BAK57FR can work but you'll likely have a harder time opening and closing the cover since there will be less clearance on the sides and cover won't bend to accommodate like a soft one would. As you tighten the bases down to the stake pockets I would try to force the bases towards the outside edge of the bases to make this easier.
