Will Access Vanish Tonneau Work on 2008 Ford Ranger With Drop-In Bed Liner

Updated 01/12/2026 | Published 09/01/2024

Question:

Hi, I have a 2008 ford ranger xl, regular cab, 6 foot bed. I wanted to purchase the access vanish bed cover but was concerned if it could be installed with the current -in bed liner I have. I was wondering the dimension of the vertical part of the side rail to ensure it will fit as designed when clamped into place. Most of the liner tucks under the part of the bed where the side rails need to be installed, but there are 3 hard plastic pieces of the bed liner that might interfere with the instal if the side rail is more that 1.5 inches tall where it clamps to bed. I’ll attach a picture. Thank you in advance.

Hey Michael,

Thanks for the photo that was really helpful to see what you meant, and I did reach out directly to the manufacturer for the dimension of that side rail for the Access Vanish Soft, Roll-Up Tonneau Cover # 834532007592.

They said they don't have access to that measurement, and since they ship them direct, I don't have a way for it to be measured. That said, based on your photo I would think it's likely the way the bed liner juts on your 2008 Ranger there would be interference with the side rail.

You can still get the # 834532007592 to fit though if you're able to trim the top pieces of that liner down. So it's going to take some modification if you're okay with that, though that's honestly going to be true of any similar cover as they do need the side to be able to clamp on properly.

Hey Michael, were you able to make the Access Vanish cover work with your bed liner after trimming those top pieces? Knowing how that turned out could really help others with the same Ranger setup.

@KatrinaD Hi, I ended up getting a different rollup cover because I didn’t want to take the chance of buying and modifying the Vanish in case it didn’t fit I’d be out the money. Sorry I can’t help. Have a great day
