Hi Etrailer - I need a replacement key for a set of locking Yakima roof rack towers installed in 2021. I dont know the key number. Can you help? Thanks

Hello Peggy, thanks for reaching out. The only way we can provide the correct key would be if you have the key number. Without that, there is no way of knowing what key will open your lock.

If the locks are currently unlocked, you can use the change key that comes with the Yakima Same Key System # Y07204 to remove the cores. The # Y07204 kit comes with 4 matching lock cores and two keys so you can replace them all with new ones. If you do this make sure you write down your key number and save it somewhere.

If the locks on your towers are currently locked, I am afraid there is no way to unlock them without the key. This is by design and the only solution for this would be to take a drill and drill out each lock core until it releases. This can be tricky though and you will need to be careful not to damage the towers.

Hi Peggy, how did things go with your Yakima roof rack towers? Were you able to use the change key kit to replace the lock cores? Your update could make it easier for others who lose their key number.
