Question:

Looking to purchase a kayak roof rack for my 2017 GMC Denali 3500 with crew cab and 8 bed. I am looking at the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Roof Rack and Lift Assist w/ Tie-Downs - Saddle Style - Universal Mount TH898, will I also need to purchase the bars that attach to the roof itself? If so, what is required?

Hello Erik; yes, you will need to install a roof rack with crossbars in order to use the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Roof Rack # TH898. For that I recommend the Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack # Y46KB. This is a full roof rack system so you get your crossbars, towers and fit kit. The crossbars are 70" long which will be plenty long for using the Hullavator. It requires the crossbars to extend past the towers by 4"-8" so the longer crossbars will be perfect. The Thule aero bars have a top channel which you can use for mounting the Hullavator.
