Troubleshooting A Non-Working RV Awning On A 2018 Forest River Wildwood 28BHHL

Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 08/25/2024

Question:

I have a 2018 Forestriver wildwood BH28. We rolled the awning in last weekend when we went back to the camper this weekend the awning wouldn’t move. I pulled the switch plate out and have no power feeding the switch. I’ve checked all fuses in the main panel and all I could find under the camper. I did pull power from the switch for the slide out and the awning did extend and retract with the switch for the awning. Could someone point me in the right direction to find the power source that feed the switch?

Hi Sonny,

There unfortunately isn't a guide to tell us where the power is coming from and if there's any hidden fuses so you're going to have to trace the wiring to the power source, which would either be running to your DC distribution panel or directly to the battery. I have seen a few trailers that also had a circuit breaker like part # PK54520 mounted to the trailer frame with it being used for the awning so while you're tracing the power wire you can check for a circuit breaker.

Hey Sonny, what did you end up finding when you traced the wiring for your awning power source? Knowing whether a circuit breaker like the one mentioned was involved could help others troubleshoot similar issues. Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same problem.
