Vent Clearance Needed For A Progressive Dynamics Power Centers
Updated 01/12/2026 | Published 08/25/2024 >
Question:
Im helping a friend convert an enclosed trailer into a camper. I have not been able to find instructions or guidance on the clearances and/or free area needed for cooling air flow. One idea is to mount this converter in the end of an upper cabinet. How much vent area is needed on the back side?

Hi Ken,
I could've sworn there used to be listed clearances for Progresive Dynamics power centers but I couldn't find them in any of the installation manuals so I reached out to Progressive Dynamics and their tech department got back to me stating that units like the # PD4060K only require about 2" of clearance around them. When I talked to one of their reps earlier this year they stated the cooling systems had improved to be more efficient and quiet.

Hey Ken, how did things go with mounting the converter in your upper cabinet? It’d be great to hear if the 2 inches of clearance gave you enough airflow. Your update could make it easier for others doing similar camper conversions.
