Question:
I have a 1994 honda accord with a 1.25 hitch, I bought this adapter for use on my Thule 2 inch bike hanging bike rack. I am looking to possibly buy the Thule Th916xtr platform rack, 2 inch rack. I shouldn't have a problem transporting, a bike or bike with the accord, with adapter, new platform carrier. It should hold just fine as long as the weight with all doesn't exceed a certain amount? I currently don't have issues now, except for a bit of sway, I bought a lighter Trek mountain bike.

The thing about using hitch adapters like the Hitch Adapter part # HTAD that you referenced is that they cut the capacity of the hitch in half. If 50 percent of your hitch capacity can handle the weight of your bike rack and bikes and you're okay with a little more movement in your hitch then using an adapter would be an option for you.
I would strongly recommend you go with a bike rack that is designed to work on 1-1/4 inch hitches so that you don't have to mess with adapters at all. For a similar bike rack to the Thule T2 # TH9045 that you referenced that will work on a 1-1/4 inch hitch and I would highly recommend the #TH9045 or the Kuat Sherpa Bike Rack part # SH12G. I attached a review video for this rack for you to check out also.
