Stromberg Trailer Jack Fuse Blowing

Updated 01/28/2026 | Published 08/17/2024

Question:

Hi I had a Jet 2500 installed on my Airstream Basecamp 16x. It will work a couple of times then the fuse blows. Any advice?

Hello Patti,

Thanks for the purchase of the # JET-2500, and if the fuse is blowing it's almost always a bad ground. So you'll want to make sure the area between the jack mounting plate and coupler is completely clean and without any dirt or paint; there has to be clean metal to metal contact or you'll get a bad ground.

Hey Patti, did cleaning the mounting area on your Airstream Basecamp fix the fuse issue with your Jet 2500 jack? Knowing how it turned out could really help others dealing with the same problem.

@JesseM It seemed to happen if I raised the jack to the top or bottom of its range - not holding it there… just bumping. So I’ve done a number of things… packed more supports to place under the jack when setting up, making sure I know the range and moving the fuse to an area where it’s easier to change :). Still near the battery but I don’t have to pull everything out to change it. But since I’ve made the other adjustments it’s working well.

@PattiM Ok interesting. Nice work making those adjustments! Sounds like you were able to address the fuse thing to the point where its no longer an issue. Glad to hear everything is working well in the end. Thanks for taking the time to share!
