Which is Better for Adding Propane to Horse Trailer a Single or Dual Stage Regulator
Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 08/12/2024 >
Question:
2 stage vs single stage regulator. Adding propane to my living quarter horse trailer. Running black pipe from the front tanks to a tankless water heater similar to EX93FR and a quick disconnect fitting for small portable grill, 2 burner stoves etc. Will this hose and single stage regulator work to feed my system or do I need a 2 stage regulator?

Hey Steve, for trailer applications a dual stage regulator will work best. The big difference is a single stage regulator is best in situations where the inlet pressure does not vary by much. Since you'll most likely have higher pressures when tank is full and lower when it runs out a dual stage like the part # 108221 would be your better option.

Hey Steve, how did things go after switching to the dual stage regulator for your trailer setup? Did it give you steadier pressure for the water heater and grill? Your update could make it easier for others planning a similar propane system.
