Recommended 5th Wheel Rails for a 2012 Ram 2500 Mega Cab

Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 08/10/2024

Question:

I have a 2012 Ram 2500 mega cab and am wondering if anyone has had an issue with the brake lines getting in the way of the u bolt for the driver’s side front bracket? Looks like it will be really tight or in the way on mine. Thoughts?

Hey John! I took a look at some of our Q&A's and reviews for the Curt item # C16420-204 you purchased. Nothing about brake line's being in the way have come up. The install instructions and our own installation video's make no reference to them either. I've installed a few of these and my recommendation would be to loosen the clips and install the brackets then run the brake lines over them.

I've linked an installation video below we did here on a 2012 Ram, hopefully it helps in some way. The instructions are also attached below.

To make towing with a 5th wheel easier, I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness item # C56000. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and more convenient.

Hey John, how did things go with fitting the Curt fifth wheel brackets around your brake lines on the Ram? Were you able to get enough clearance after loosening the clips and routing the lines over the brackets? Your update could make it easier for the next person working on the same setup.
