How to Add Roof Rack to 2007 Saturn VUE Without Raised Rails

Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 08/07/2024

Question:

I have a 2007 Saturn VUE Base Model that has roof bars that run from front to back that serve no purpose. They are for looks it appears since there are no cross bars nor is there any option to install cross bars. These rails are screwed to the roof. Id like to know if you have a set up that is side rails and crossbars for my Saturn. And can you send me a video as to how they are installed?

Hi Stephen; there are no specific kits that will allow you to install tracks and crossbars on your 2007 Saturn VUE. However, that does not mean it can't be done. What you can do is use rails like the Yakima 42" Tracks for Roof Racks # Y01126 which will require drilling. Make sure to measure your roof to ensure you have enough space for the tracks.

With the tracks installed you can add crossbars using the SkyLine Towers # Y53TR and Landing Pad 1 # Y00221. Based on the racks designed to fit the raised rails I recommend the 50" Yakima JetStream Crossbars # Y00425. We have an installation video for the 60" tracks on a truck cap which I attached below. We don't have any on a vehicle since that isn't as common.

The other option you have is to use a universal roof rack like the SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack # 298-SX6000B. This is vacuum mounted with a pull strength of 1,260 lbs and 150 lb capacity.

Hey Stephen, how did things go with adding the Yakima tracks and crossbars to your Saturn VUE? Your update could make it easier for others trying to add a functional rack to similar factory rails.
