Are Trailer Axles with 3/4 inch Diameter Spindles Still Made

Updated 06/04/2026 | Published 07/03/2024

Question:

Hi, Im trying to find an axle for small boat trailer with 3/4 spindles. Do they exist? Or are there 1 wheel bearings with same OD as 3/4 bearing ? Then I would be a new axle with 1 spindles or 1 1/16

Hey Michael, 3/4 inch diameter spindles are basically unheard of nowadays so you won't be able to find one.

The 1 inch diameter of the 1-1/16 inch diameter spindles are the current size that is most likely seen.

You'd need to know the distance between your spring seat centers as well as from hub face to hub face.

Hey Michael, were you able to measure the spring seat and hub face distances for your boat trailer? Once you have those numbers, it’ll be easier to find an axle that matches your setup. Your update could make it easier for others working on older trailers too.

@JamesonC thanks for the reply!--I can measure hub face distance. Re: leaf spring seat, how do i make that measurement?

@MichaelC Hey Michael! Jameson is on vacation so I'm here to help! You'll want to measure from the center of the leaf spring seat to the center of the other one on the axle. This is the bracket that attaches the leaf spring to the axle. In other words, measure from the center of the leaf spring to the center of the other leaf spring.
