Incorrect Voltage Coming Out of Converter C56040 on 2018 Subaru Crosstrek
Updated 07/10/2024 | Published 06/29/2024 >
Question:
This was installed on a 2018 Crosstrek. Im getting proper voltage at the vehicle prior to the converter box, but - it sends constant 5v to the taillight brown wire with the vehicle off and the voltage never increases to illuminate the tail lights with the vehicle running and the lights on. The brown wire always carries only 5V. Is this normal for this converter?

Hey Matt,
That isn't normal, and there is definitely an issue with the converter for the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56040. You have both low voltage and constant voltage coming out of the converter box (but not in) which is something that should not be happening. The harness will need to be replaced, and hopefully it's still under the 1-year warranty. If not and you have to get a new one, I'd go with the more reliable Tekonsha # 118467.
