Trailer Hitch for a 2005 Chevy Express 3500 with a Knapheide Utility Body

Question:
Hi Im looking for a hitch reciever for my 2005 Chevy Express 3500 with a Knapheide utility body. The bolt holes are in the van frame but it looks like the hitch has to drop down below the step bumper

Hey Jim, thanks for reaching out!
Since your 2005 Chevy Express 3500 has the utility body you'll need to look into a more universal hitch like the Curt Class 5 Universal Weld-on Hitch w/ Brackets # 15903. If you didn't have the drop step bumper you might be able to get away with a standard hitch, but in your case you'll need to have a shop modify this hitch to fit your vehicle.

Hey Jim, how did the fit go with the Curt Class 5 universal weld-on hitch on your Chevy Express 3500? It’d be great to hear if the shop was able to modify it to clear your step bumper. Your update could make it easier for others with the same setup.
