Replacement AC Unit Recommendation for a Dometic Brisk for 24' Trailer
Updated 06/25/2024 | Published 06/16/2024 >
Question:
Hi. We have a BriskAir unit on our 24 enclosed trailer that we take to races. The unit is now at least 12 years and it is not doing a great job keeping the trailer cool in the SC summer heat. I do not know what BTU rating it is. What 110v unit might you suggest? Low amp draw would be preferred as we are often running on a generator.

Hey Ken, thanks for reaching out!
For a 24' enclosed trailer you likely have a 13.5K Btu AC unit, but the price difference between the Advent Air Low Profile 13.5K Btu Kit # ASA99YR and the 15K Btu Kit # ASA86YR is pretty small so it wouldn't hurt to have the more powerful system and just keep it from running as hard.
These are great replacement options that will plug right into your existing Dometic wiring so you just have to make sure your unit doesn't have the control box built into it and you'll be good to go! They also include a start capacitor so the startup power draw is the same as the running draw, and will draw about the same amount as what your current system is drawing.

Jon, Thanks for the reply. I agree going with the higher output unit would make sense. I am not sure what you are refering to for control box. The controls on my unit are on the ceiling in the panel with the vents and such which I'd guess is attached to the bottom of the unit on the roof.
