Does Trailer Wiring Power Wire Have to Run Up to Vehicle Battery
Updated 05/29/2024 | Published 05/25/2024 >
Question:
My question is regarding the Curt 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector with Circuit Protected Powered Tail Light Converter - C85FV. Instead of the power line connected to the battery, can the fused power wire for the converter be connected to the ignition switchs to the switchs on side power. The reason I wish to do it this way is because I would like to use the converter for the tail lights in the dash area on a MK4 roadster that I have built. Thanks, Edo

Hey Edo, so the reason you want to run the power wire of the Curt 4-way part # C85FV all the way up to the battery is because this prevents the possibility of any trailer wiring shorts from affecting the taillight circuits of the vehicle. This is only safe way we can recommend you install the harness.
