Question:

Hi Jon, I want to get a 3- bike rack for my Buick Envision 2016, which I will prefer to go with a hitch. For that, I will need also to get a hitch for the car. According to your experience, what would you recommend to look for? Do I need to go to a shop to install the hitch or can be DIY? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey Claudia, thanks for reaching out!

Hitch mount bike racks are definitely the preferred route since you have a wider variety of options to choose from and the hitch can handle more weight than a trunk style can. The hitch I recommend for your 2016 Buick Envision is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13292 because it's the most reliable brand we have.

The installation is fairly straightforward and we have it listed to take about 40 minutes to install for a novice so this is a great DIY opportunity if you've never installed a hitch before. In my experience installing hitches the best advice I can give is to take your time during the installation. The 40 minutes is just an estimate so if it ends up taking you longer it isn't a huge deal. I've linked our installation video of this hitch on a 2017 Envision for you to reference.

You'll need the following tools for the installation:

- Flat head screwdriver
- 11/16" & 15mm sockets
- Ratchet
- Torque wrench
- T15 Torxbit
- Safety glasses
