Question:
I have a boat that I bought used and trailered sparingly, but one day I noticed a wheel looked tilted. I soon learned that the bearings were gone and the spindle was damaged severely and bent. It was welded into a square axle although the spindle is round. To my measurement the entire spindle is 8.5 inches long from end to end. From the end of the spindle where the nut goes to the place where seal would be is 4and5/16. The part where the bearings sit is 3and5/16inch long and 1inch in diameter. From where the seal would be to the end of the spindle in the axle is 1and1/8inch diameter and it continues at 1 1/8 for the remainder of the shaft. The square axle that it goes in is about 1 1/2inch square. The spindle I took out was welded with shimsI searching for a replacement spindle I am not sure exactly what I should be ordering. A lot of what I see online does not give sufficient information to know if what they are selling will meet your need. I have attached some photos of the undamaged spindle and the damaged one. Will you please give me some guidance or recommendation or tell me if you have a suitable replacement? Thanks for offering this service.

Hello Birdie. That spindle sure has seen better days. In fact, I would have to recommend that you replace both spindles after seeing the condition. We do have one option for a potential replacement, but we unfortunately do not have a direct match for the spindle you described.
Our best option is the Square BT8 Spindle # TRU97FR. This has a 1-1/2" square stub and is rated for 2,000 lbs. This uses a L44643 (1.00" inner diameter) bearing, so it will require new hubs as well. For that I recommend the # AKIHUB-440-2-1K for a 4 lug hub or the # AKIHUB-545-2-LFEZ-1K for a 5 on 4-1/2" hub. I have also included some dimensions of the # TRU97FR spindle for your reference.
