When Should More Marine Grease Be Added To MORryde Wet Bolts

Updated 05/20/2024 | Published 05/17/2024

Question:

I am considering using this to replace the plastic dry bushings on my heavy tandem axle boat trailer. Even if I use marine grease, wont much of the grease be compromised when the trailer is submerged underwater? How will this hold up on a 250-mile trip home from the water after being dunked in a lake? Will I need to grease these bushings between every trip?

Hey Brian,

Marine grease # L54FR is designed to repel water so you shouldn't need to re-grease the wet bolts of the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit # MR76ZR every single trip. It's really going to come down to how long the trailer is sitting in the water and how many miles you're travelling. A 250 mile trip isn't going to run you out of grease. If you're driving a thousand miles I'd probably add a bit more grease to keep everything in good condition and clean out any debris you might have picked up on the road. When adding grease it really only takes a pump or two to fill these bolts so you'll want to be careful that you don't overdo and end up wasting the grease.

The # MR76ZR comes with 3-1/8" shackle straps so you'll want to measure your current shackle straps from center of the eyelet to center of the other eyelet to confirm this is the fit. If you find the measurement is different then let me know and I can find a compatible alternative.
