How To Figure Out What Trailer Wires Do What

Question:
I have a led 11 tail light my question is the new light has a white a green and a black wires My trailer has a Red White and black wires. The questions is does the white from the new light go to white on trailer and black to black and green to red? thanks

Bill, since trailer manufacturers use whatever wire they have available, it'd be best to use a circuit tester like the Hook Probe Circuit Tester # PTW2993 to test the functions of the trailer wire. That way when you go to hook up your new trailer light you'll know what wires do what.
