Does Item C45552 come with a 1-7/8 or 2 ball? Can the ball be field-changed to a different size? If so, what is the part number for the other ball size?

Thanks for reaching out, John!
The Curt Class II Euro Style Drawbar # C45552 has a 2" hitch ball. The hitch ball is fixed and can't be removed so if you want this style and you need to be able to use both a 1-7/8" and 2" hitch ball you'll need to also get the part # C45551 so you have 2 different ball mounts.
For an alternative solution I recommend pairing the Curt Class II Drawbar # C45521 with the Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball Set # 802b which gives you a way to swap out the hitch ball size without having to remove the entire hitch ball from the ball mount.
You'll need either a standard Hitch Pin and Clip # F-4 or a Locking Hitch Pin # e98879 whether you decide to go with the Euro Style or Standard Style ball mount.
