Question:

Hello, I currently have the yakima easy rider trailer and I was wondering if this rack system could mount to the bottom round bars to create a floorinch for the trailer.

Yes, you can attach a LockNLoad platform to the bottom of the Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer item # Y08129 but not that one because it's too wide. Instead you'll need the 84" Long x 49" Wide Yakima LockNLoad Platform Rack for Crossbars item # Y05047-39 or the shorter 55" Long x 49" Wide item # Y05044-39.

The lower bars on the EasyRider item # Y08129 are larger than most other crossbars and have a 2" diameter but the included mounting kits will accommodate round bars up to 2".

The bottom of the EasyRider item # Y08129 isn't wide enough for the 84" Long x 62" Wide item # Y05049 you were looking at.

I want to add the 84" x 49" platform to my Easy Rider. Your kit has 3 pairs of the clamps to secure the platform to the bottom of the trailer. However, the Yakima website state this installing the platform to the bottom of the Easy Rider requires "3 pairs of LocknLoad Crossbars clamps per bar are required to get maximum clamping force to the trailer bars and frame". Is this just a misprint on the Yakima website?

@HerschelM I couldn't find that information on the Yakima website but it definitely sounds like a typo because that would be an excessive amount of clamps. Their LockNLoad Platform Rack item # Y05047-39 comes with 3 pairs of clamps which is sufficient.

@JerredH Thank you for the reply. I did speak with Yakima they said it is a misprint on an old document that has not been updated. They also told me the larger 84 x 49 platform will not work since it will not reach the front bar to connect it. The distance from the bottom rear bar to the bottom front bar is 84 inches however, the connections to the rails are not made on the ends of the platforms. Once you install the platform it will fall short of the bottom front bar due to the mounting locations. I really wish there was a way to do this. I really need thr larger platform.
