Recommended Replacement For A Dometic 57915.741 RV Air Conditioner System

Updated 07/21/2025 | Published 02/04/2024

Question:

I am shopping for a replacement air conditioner for my travel trailer. I currently have a ducted dometic 57915.741G9 with a simple slide button thermostat to heat, off cool and fan to be on, off, or auto. What would I need to replace it with a furrion 14,000 or 15,000 btu? Or would you recommend a different brand that has capacitor start? Thank you. Paul Thank you

Hi Paul,

The 57915.741 comes back as a 13,500BTU unit so you can go with another 13,500BTU system or upgrade to a higher rating. Furrion dropped their line 14,500BTU units so you'll have to choose between 13,500 or 15,000. Upgrading to a higher BTU rated unit will help improve overall efficiency and cool the trailer quicker so I typically recommend increasing the BTU rating, but it will end up costing a bit more up front. We have the following options available with a wall thermostat:

13,500BTU:
Black # FR35PV
White # FR95PV

15,000BTU:
Black # FR23PV
White # FR55PV

These units all come with a start capacitor already built into them so you won't have to purchase and install one separately.

Kevin, My RV currently has a Dometic 57915.741 1300 BTU ducted unit and thermostat. This unit decided not to work anymore. What are my options to replace this unit, and hopefully keep the same thermostat that is currently installed? Would the units you recomend above work for me also? What about the soft start devices to add to this unit?

@Len If you want to be able to keep any portion of the AC unit system you have now you'd need to stick with a Dometic brand otherwise we can't guarantee anything else that might fit. If you'd be open to switching the thermostat and lower unit though we can help and we have systems that have soft starts built into them as well.
