Installing 7-way Trailer Connector on 2002 Chevy Blazer

The Hopkins # 30955 is intended for use on a full size GM truck or SUV that is equipped with the factory tow package. The connector would plug into an existing connector located at the rear of the driver's side frame rail behind the back bumper or above the spare tire as shown in the photo I provided. Unless it was equipped with a rare factory tow package, it is unlikely your Blazer will have that connector.

If you're wanting to install the 7-way to tow a trailer equipped with electric brakes, you'll need to install a brake controller using our Brake Controller Install kit, part # ETBC7. The kit includes an adapter that would plug into an existing 4-pole trailer connector, if your Blazer has one. If it doesn't have one, you can either install one using part # 18252 or you can cut the 4-pole off the adapter and wire it directly into the taillight circuits. The green wire would tap into the right hand turn signal, the yellow wire would tap into the left turn signal and the brown wire would tap into the running light circuit. The white wire would ground to the vehicle frame. A cable (included with the kit) would be ran to the front of the vehicle to carry the brake output voltage from the brake controller to the trailer connector).

For a brake controller, you can't go wrong with the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. I have linked you to install details for the ETBC7 kit, plus an install video showing a typical installation on a 1993 Chevy Suburban. The install on your Blazer would be very similar.
