Question:
I am looking for a folding J-type kayak roof rack for a 2019 4Runner with factory crossbars. Theres not much clearance between the crossbars and the roof just over an inch. Can you recommend a product that might fit? Thank you!

I took a look at some photos of the crossbars on your 2019 Toyota 4Runner, and you weren't kidding when you said there wasn't much clearance. Thankfully, there is exactly one J-style kayak carrier that lack of clearance won't be a problem for, and that's called the Kuat V2, is available in either black or gray:
- Black: Kuat Class 4 V2 Kayak Roof Rack w/ Tie-Downs # KU53VR
- Gray: Kuat Class 4 V2 Kayak Roof Rack w/ Tie-Downs # KU33VR
The reason this will work with such limited clearance is because this carrier uses straps that you run under your crossbars, so they take up essentially no space whatsoever. It's super simple, and the carrier even comes with a lock and key so once you strap it up to your roof, you can lock it in place for safety.
Really, this is the easiest possible kayak carrier to use, and fits your situation perfectly. The only other thing you'll need if you don't have them are tie-downs for your kayak, which you can get with the etrailer Kayak Tie-Down Kit # e36ZR.
