Recommended Hydraulic Fluid For Lippert Leveling Systems In Cold Temperatures

Published 01/11/2024

Question:

I have a 2024 Montana 3941FO, with the hydraulic leveling system. I have done some Googling about what oil to use in cold environment / temperatures. I have seen info about replacing oil with motorcycle brake fluid, and then also seen something about a stiction fluid. I also searched on Lippert site and could not find the information. Can you please advise?

I've attached a list of approved hydraulic fluid options for your Lippert Hydraulic Leveling System based on the temperature you'll be in. Anti-Stiction fluid helps lubricate the system (seals, rod, etc.) and could be used, but wouldn't be as useful as bleeding the system and using a new hydraulic fluid rated for the climate. If you plan on adding some anti-stiction fluid in then you'll only want to add a quart of one of the following options:

Torco RFF Grade 15
Maxima Fork Oil Grade 15
Caterpillar Hydraulic Oil Additive 1U-9891
