Recommended Hitch System To Pull a 5TH Wheel Camper With a 2019 Ram 1500 With 5-1/2' Bed

Question:

Hello, I am purchasing a 2024 Forest River FR Cherrokee Black Label 256RRBL. My tow vehicle is a 2019 Ram, 1500 limited, 4x4, 5.7L Hemi 5 1/2ft bed, with factory air suspension. I am looking for the best towing solution, be that 5th wheel hitch, or Goose neck adapter if that doesnt void the FR warranty. I really do not want to have to exit my vehicle and unlock the 5th wheel hitch for sharp turns if I can avoid it. According to the dealer the pin box is a standard Lippert Rhino box 21inch from the rear of the wingset to center of Kingpin, 4 3/4inch from botom of wingset. Any reccomendations or direction would be appreciated.

The Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550040 is the best option for towing your 2024 Forest River Cherokee Black Label 256RRBL with your 2019 Ram 1500. This hitch automatically slides back up to 22-1/2" as you turn so there is no need to get out of the vehicle. And as you are not changing your pin box there is no risk of voiding your warranty and you can use the hitch with other trailers should you get a different 5th wheel down the road.

To install the hitch in your bed you will need the Rail Kit # DM8552032-71 which includes custom fit mounting brackets to attach the rails. You will also need the Locking Plate # DM76FR to attach to your Rhino pin box so the hitch turns properly when you are connected.
