Question:
I purchased the F22ZR Firestone air bag kit for my 2018 Jayco on the E-450 chassis. The kit provides a shim that goes between the upper plate assembly and the frame. This shim seem to angle the plate such that it isnt parallel with the lower plate. I installed the shim on the passenger side but not the driver side and it seems to have better geometry without the shim. Is it OK to not use the shim and should I remove the passenger side shim as well?

Expert Reply:
The upper secondary bracket on the # F22ZR is there for additional support between the bracket and the frame. We do recommend having all of the brackets installed on both sides as per the instructions. Not doing so will void your warranty. Please make sure that you have the upper secondary bracket positioned on each side so that the uppermost part of the bracket is facing the front of the vehicle. Once you torque all of the bolts to spec, the secondary bracket should allow the plate to be parallel to the lower.
