Recommended Bike Rack Options For 40lb Bike On A 2021 Nissan Leaf

Question:

Hi, what trunk mounted bike racks would you recommend for a single 40 pound bike? I also would like one that hangs behind the vehicle as short a distance as possible garage limitations. Thanks!

The trunk mounted bike rack carriers that we currently offer unfortunately aren't rated high enough for a 40lb bike so you would need to switch to either a trailer hitch mount or roof rack mounted rack. If you don't have a trailer hitch then you can install the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7221 and then use a rack like the Yakima RidgeBack Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # Y02457.

If you'd rather go with a roof rack option then you could first install the following components:

Yakima JetStream Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 50" Long # Y00425
BaseLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Naked Roofs # Y28TR
BaseClip Fit Kit for Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack Towers # Y06159
BaseClip Fit Kit for Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack Towers # Y06176

For the rack you could use the Rhino-Rack Hybrid Roof Bike Rack # RRRBC050.
