Is the Dometic DMC74FR water heater a good replacement for an Atwood GE 16 EXT or is there a better replacement for it ?

I do have some options for replacing your Atwood GE 16. You certainly can use the Dometic # DMC74FR to replace it since it is a similar gas/electric tanked water heater. The main difference is that they Dometic unit is smaller than your Atwood unit. The Dometic # DMC74FR is 12-3/4" tall x 12-3/4" wide x 19-7/8" deep, so you will likely have to do a bit of modification to your cutout to allow it to fit correctly. Pretty much any new unit is going to be smaller than your Atwood unit.
