Troubleshooting A Greystone RV Griddle Ignitor That Won't Light The Burner
Published 08/25/2023 >
Question:
My 17 inch griddle in my outdoor kitchen on my camper will not ignite with igniter. It will however light with a lighter, so it is getting gas and I can also hear it and smell it coming through. So what do I do now?

Since the Greystone Outdoor RV Griddle and Grill # WAY34FR is lighting with a lighter but not by the ignitor you most likely either have a faulty electrode or there is build up on the burner blocking the ignitor from lighting the burner. I recommend first cleaning the burner by following the steps listed below:
1. Shut the gas down at control knob.
2. All components must be cooled down.
3. Get griddle plate off from assembly.
4. Use wire to brush the entire outer surface of the burner to clean food residue and dirt.
5. A stiff wire such as an open paper clip can be used to clean any blocked ports
6 Wear eye protection and use an air hose to force air into the burner tube and out the burner ports. Ensure each port to make sure air is coming out each respective nozzle.
After the burner is cleaned let the gas flow for a few seconds before turning to the control knob to acitvate the ignitor. If the issue persists then you'll want to reach out to Lippert Components for steps on fixing the electrode.
