Can Gooseneck to 5th Wheel Coupler Adapter Be Used with Demco Hijacker Hitch

Question:

I bought this adapter. I have a Demco 18K slider. My bolts on my Demco capture plates are not long enough to tighten in place. I have to put bot nuts of capture plates to the inside and use double nut method to loch in place. There is nothing in QandA or videos that tell me to buy additional parts. I also watched videos for Demco 18K hitch for different styles of fifth wheel pins and it showed nothing either. I do not feel safe doing what I had to do with capture plates. Thank you

The Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches are designed to work with standard pin boxes 12" - 14" wide (which we do mention on the Hijacker product pages) so it does make sense that your Gooseneck to 5th Wheel Trailer Coupler Adapter # KPG5-R25-IP with the 10" x 10" plate wouldn't fit properly.

I've heard of people welding on 1" spacers on either side of that kind of adapter you're using, but Demco doesn't really recommend doing this with their capture plates so it's one of those "do it at your own risk" kind of things.
