Swing-Away Hitch Adapter Recommendation for Ram ProMaster Rear Door Access

Question:

I am interested in your Thule Access swing away bike rack option. We have a 2019 Roadtrek RV built on a 2018 Ram Promaster 3500. It is so frustrating when we have our Thule bike rack hitch version on the back and we can’t open the back doors . Your product looks great. How can I buy your product? Thanks

The Thule Access Swing Away Hitch Extender TH9037 was actually discontinued back in 2021 which is why you're having a hard time finding it. The good news is that we have other swing-away adapters that you can use instead!

My favorite is the Kuat Pivot 2 # PVP20B because it's very smooth to operate and it can swing open more than 90 degrees if you need it to. Back when we carried the Access I actually recommended the Pivot 2 over it all the time because the Access was a bit more clunky and annoying while the Pivot 2 is sleek and intuitive.

Kuat came out with this because of the Ram ProMaster issue you're describing so it's the perfect solution. Just note that Thule will most likely state that using this voids the warranty on your bike rack since it isn't "their brand" swing-away adapter, but as long as your Thule bike rack has a solid 2" shank the Pivot 2 is perfectly safe to use with your bike rack.
