Question:
I am restoring a 1972 Sprite Musketeer European and it has a mechanical surge brake system. I would like to replace the system with some as close to what it originally has. Do you have any suggestions?

I wasn't able to find a lot of information on the 1972 Sprite Musketeer European, but from old pictures it looks like you will need an A-frame brake actuator like the # DM8609502. If you're able to bolt one on, you could use the # DM8609101 instead which fits a 3" wide tongue. The pictures I was able to find were pretty low quality so I can't quite tell.
If you also need replacement brake lines, you can use the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit - Single Axle - 18' # 18SI-BLKIT. If you're looking for replacement brakes, you will have to get additional information. If you can find your axle capacity and measure your current brakes or drum that would be enough to find the correct replacement.
For example, if you have a 2,000 lb axle with brakes or a drum measuring 7" diameter x 1-1/4" wide you could use the # AKEBRK-2. Or if it was a 3,500 lb axle with a 10" x 2-1/4" drum the # AKEBRK-35-SA. Since this is European I'm really not sure what you will find. If you also want new hub and drum assemblies you will need to find out what bearings you have on the trailer.
If you can send me a picture and additional information I can help you find the best replacement parts if they are available. I have attached some review and installation videos below for your reference.
