Recommended Retractable Transom Straps For a 7,000 - 7,800 lb. Boat
Updated 06/29/2023 | Published 06/28/2023 >
Question:
I’m interested in purchasing a pair of retractable tie down straps for my boat trailer. The boat is a Crownline 280SS, 18 ft long and weighs about 7,000 - 7,800 lbs loaded. Which strap brand and model would you recommend? Freshwater use only. My other questions concerns a preexisting only in the trailer that is considerably larger than what’s needed. I’m wondering if there is a way I could use it so I don’t have to drill new holes? See picture.

When choosing transom tie-downs you will want to choose a tie-down with a break strength that exceeds the weight of the lightest object. So in your instance, you will want a strap that exceed the weight of your trailer because I am sure it weighs less than your 7,00-7,800 boat.
The BoatBuckle G2 Retractable, Ratcheting Transom Tie-Down Straps # IMF08893 have a break strength of 2,500 lbs which is the highest that we have in a retractable transom strap.
For your other concern, I am not sure what you are referencing and your picture did not come through.
