Will Cur Flex Air Pin Box Prevent Chucking Better than MORryde

Published 06/22/2023

Question:

I have a 2020 Pinnacle 32RLTS with a MORryde RPB72-1621HD 18K Fifth Wheel Pin Box. I have a Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw attached to a 2019 F-250 with the short bed. I am considering upgrading to the Flex Air 18K Fifth Wheel Pin Box – Lippert Components 328492. Couple of questions. First do you know what the weights are for the MORryde RPB72-1621HD 18K Fifth Wheel Pin Box and the Lippert Components 328492? Second, do I need the Long Jaw or Medium Jaw? I get a bit of chucking at low speeds and a lot of bouncing on the road, should the FlexAIr help with that? I have already installed shock absorbers on the Fifth Wheel trailer and that has helped somewhat with vibration in the trailer but will the FlexAir help reduce the vibration as well and reduce the bouncing in the truck?

The MORryde pin box you have now is our part # MR64VR and it weighs 190 lbs whereas the Curt Flex Air part # LC328492 weighs 232 lbs. This is an extended pin box and when you go with a replacement you have to stick with the same length, also, you can't swap in other length pin boxes that would fit same bolt pattern.

The Flex Air has a lot more vertical cushioning so it's going to do a great job stopping the chucking you described. You would notice a big difference and the ride quality would be much smoother.
