Question:
I have a 1996 Dodge 3500 Dually. I have a camper on it. To tow my boat with the truck I need a 4 extension. Right now I have a factory 2 hitch. I would prefer a 2.5 or 3 hitch with the 4 extension. Can you help me with my purchase? Want to get correct hitch and extension on the 1st try.

While we can get you a heavier-duty hitch and 4 foot extension, I checked all options and there isn't a 2-1/2" or 3" hitch for your 1996 Dodge Ram 3500. And the only option for a 4 foot extension is from TorkLift, and is actually going to require their hitch because of its dual receivers. So here is exactly what you need:
- TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch Receiver # TLD1100
- TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension for SuperHitch Trailer Hitch Receivers - 48" Long # TLE1548
The SuperTruss will fit in the dual receivers and give you a strong connection; most hitch extenders reduce the tongue weight of your hitch by 50%, but because this is a dual receiver set up, that isn't the case, and this combo will have a 6,000 lb towing and 600 lb tongue weight capacity.
