Will Roadmaster Blackhawk 2 Tow Bar Work with Roadmaster Base Plates for a 2010 Honda CR-V
Question:
I currently have a Roadmaster Blackhawk 2 All Terrain towbar 10,000 lbs capacity for towing a 2006 Dodge Ram Mega Cab. with a 277-3A base plate I want to downsize my toad to a 2010 Honda CR-V and want to know: Will my towbar be compatible with the RM-521559-4? And what other parts might I need to make it work?

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Blackhawk 2 All Terrain tow bar will fit the XL base plates # RM-521559-4 for the 2010 Honda CR-V. Since you have already been flat towing, you probably already have safety cables but in case you do need cables use # RM-645. These are straight cables that you can use in the cable guides on the Blackhawk tow bar.
You will also need lighting for the CR-V. If you are using a magnetic kit like # RM-2120 or something similar then you can continue to use that with the CR-V. If you want something a little more permanent that you can plug in I recommend Hopkins harness # HM56300 with extension # RM-300150-00. The Hopkins system just plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring connectors.
It also looks like you need to pull fuses to flat tow the 2010 CR-V. Check the owners manual to confirm. To make this process as easy as flipping a switch, you can use fuse bypass # RM76511.
And finally most states require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Even Brake proportional system # RM-9400. It will apply the CR-V brakes in proportion to how much the motor home is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
You will also need a stop light switch kit, # RM-751000, to alert you that the brake pedal in the CR-V is actually moving when the brakes in the motor home are applied. And you will need a 12 volt outlet kit, # RM-9332, to provide power to the braking system.
